Senior aides to South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol offered to resign Wednesday, following the president's declaration and quick revocation of martial law overnight, Yonhap News Agency reported.
The controversial move triggered political unrest and intensified calls for Yoon's resignation. South Korea's largest labor union, the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), announced an indefinite general strike earlier, urging over one million members to stop working until Yoon steps down. Opposition party leaders also joined the chorus, demanding the president's resignation amid the escalating crisis.
