The United States sees the former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) Valerii Zaluzhnyi as "the most suitable candidate" to replace the current Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) press department said on Thursday.

"Having exhausted Zelensky's usefulness and having realized the futility of hopes for a strategic defeat of Russia, the White House will not hesitate to throw him to the dustbin of history and replace him with one of the Ukrainian politicians who will be acceptable for negotiating with Moscow on a peaceful settlement of the conflict. Washington considers former AFU commander-in-chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi the most suitable candidate,"

Back in February, Zelensky dismissed Zaluzhnyi and named Oleksandr Syrskyi as the new commander-in-chief.
