A 5.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded in central Turkey on Saturday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported the same earthquake at a magnitude of 5.3. Its epicenter was some 40 kilometers west of the city of Aksaray, home to around 152 thousand people and 18 kilometers from the city of Emirgazi with an estimated population of 8.4 thousand. The tremor struck at a shallow depth of 10.0 kilometers.
The news came after 7.8- and 7.5-magnitude twin quakes struck the region two weeks ago, killing close to 50 thousand people in Turkey and Syria.
