United States President Joe Biden said on Tuesday he would nominate the country's ambassador to Armenia, Lynne Tracy, to serve as the ambassador to Russia following the retirement of former ambassador John Sullivan.
Tracy served as one of the highest-ranking officials in the US embassy in Moscow from 2014 until 2017 while previously working in the State Department, where she was a senior adviser for Russia-related affairs.
Tracy, who has already held US diplomatic posts across Turkmenistan, Pakistan and Kazakhstan, will take over amidst deteriorating relations prompted by Russia's attack on Ukraine.
