Boeing 737 Max output to stay limited until FAA 'satisfied'

United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Administrator Mike Whitaker stated on Thursday that Boeing 737 Max production will remain limited until the FAA is "satisfied" with the company's implementation of its comprehensive plan to address "systemic quality-control issues."

"We will not approve production increases beyond the current cap until we're satisfied," Whitaker said in a press conference. "Boeing has laid out their roadmap, and now they need to execute."

The FAA will meet with Boeing weekly to revise progress and conduct monthly assessments, Whitaker added. The measure comes after a door panel blowout during a new Alaska Airlines flight on January 6.
