Maine Governor Janet Mills confirmed on Thursday that at least 18 people died, while 13 were injured, in the shootings in the city of Lewiston.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference, Mills named Robert Card the person of interest and stressed he is still on the run. She urged everyone to call 911 if they spot him and "not approach him under any circumstances." Maine State Police Colonel William G. Ross added that if officially charged, Card will be accused of eight counts of murder.
Moreover, Ross said that eight of the 18 deceased have been identified, while naming the remaining ten is in process.
