British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's spokesperson stated on Thursday the negotiations over trade between the United Kingdom and Canada were at "an advanced stage" and "progressing well."
The spokesperson added London was hoping to reach an agreement with Ottawa before the end of the post-Brexit transition period.
Earlier in the day, British International Trade Secretary Liz Truss said she hoped the two countries would reach a deal by the end of the year and that their trade relations would go "much further" in the future.
