Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang urged Canada again on Monday to "correct its mistakes" and release Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.'s CFO Meng Wanzhou (pictured center) "as soon as possible".

He also claimed that the United States and Canada have violated bilateral extradition treaties, and abused the legitimate rights of Chinese nationals.

Meng, who is the daughter of Huawei's CEO Ren Zhengfei, is set to appear at extradition hearing that will start later in the day in Vancouver. She is currently under house arrest in Canada and could be potentially extradited to the US for allegedly violating Washington's sanctions against Iran.
