United States Defense Department press secretary Patrick Ryder shared on Tuesday that there have been discussions among the US, Israel, and the United Nations to identify "alternative routes for the safe movement of staff and cargo" through the Gaza Strip.

"As we move forward with this, the safety and security of humanitarian assistance organizations is going to continue to be critical ... The goal is to get this humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people who need it most," he stressed at a press conference.

He underlined that "this is a combat zone and it is a complex operation," adding that from the start, Washington has been clear that it will be taking the "crawl, walk, run approach" to ensure that the system is being implemented in a way "where we are working out the processes, the procedures, and taking into account security conditions."
