United States Postmaster General Louis DeJoy officially stepped down on Monday, a month after notifying the Postal Service Board of Governors of his plans to step down.
Appointed to the US Postal Service (USPS) in 2020, DeJoy worked to overhaul the agency's finances as it faced over $100 billion in losses since 2007. His tenure drew controversy, particularly over mail-in voting during the 2020 election.
DeJoy's departure follows recent tension with the Trump administration. It also comes soon after DeJoy sought cost-cutting help form the Department of Government Oversight (DOGE).
