Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has returned to Kiev after making an unannounced visit to the frontline city of Bakhmut, he announced in his daily video address on Tuesday.
In his remarks, the leader sought support for the troops fighting to protect Bakhmut against "the fiercest attacks of the occupiers, against the most insane Russian strikes." "Support Bakhmut, tattered yet unconquered, and its defenders," he asked, promising his government will do "everything possible and impossible, expected and unexpected," so that the soldiers in the region can "prevail" against Russia.
For the past several months, Bakhmut, located in the eastern Donetsk region of the country, has found itself at the center of Russia's military operation in Ukraine.
