Gabriel Attal was appointed as the new French prime minister after the resignation of Elisabeth Borne. Attal served as the government spokesperson from 2020 to 2022 before being named minister of public accounts and minister of education in 2022 and 2023. Aged 34, he is the youngest prime minister in France's modern history.
Attal will now nominate ministers for his new cabinet, which will require the approval of President Emmanuel Macron. He has already come under fire from the opposition, with Jean-Luc Melenchon from the NUPES coalition stating that Attal "regained his position as spokesperson" and that "the office of prime minister has disappeared."
