The Democrats in the House of Representatives introduced on Friday a resolution to block US President Donald Trump's national emergency declaration, which is intended to facilitate the construction of a wall on the Mexican border. Yesterday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed her support for the legislation in a letter sent to lawmakers from both parties.

Meanwhile, the Democrats in the Senate are also preparing a resolution to revoke Trump's national emergency, which will most likely be filed on Monday. Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer, urged senators from both parties yesterday to support the legislation and fulfill their duty of limiting an "overreaching executive." Susan Collins, a moderate from Maine was the first GOP senator to announce support for a "clean" resolution of disapproval to Trump's emergency declaration.
