Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt congratulated his predecessor Boris Johnson on his victory in the Conservative Party's elections by tweeting that he'll be a "great PM for our country at this critical moment!" The winner of the intra-party contest automatically succeeds Theresa May as prime minister, and Johnson will assume the post on Wednesday.
Hunt, who won a third of the votes cast among his party's membership, complimented Johnson on his "optimism, energy & unbounded confidence in our wonderful country" shown throughout the campaign. "We need that," he stressed.
"All best wishes from the entrepreneur :-)," foreign secretary's message concluded.
