The High Court in Belfast ruled on Friday that checks on food and agricultural products coming from Great Britain to Northern Ireland will continue until a decision is reached after a hearing in March. Northern Irish Agriculture Minister Edwin Poots (pictured) previously unilaterally suspended the checks amid negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom on the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Northern Irish First Minister Paul Givan resigned on Thursday, after holding the position for only eight months. The UK nation could face an early election as its biggest party, the pro-Brexit Democratic Unionist Party, seeks to increase its support.
