British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak confirmed on Monday, speaking at the Confederation of British Industry's (CBI) conference in Birmingham, that the United Kingdom does not plan to pursue any trade deal with the European Union where the "alignment with EU laws" would be necessary.
"I voted for Brexit. I believe in Brexit and I know that Brexit can deliver and is already delivering enormous benefits and opportunities for the country," Sunak shared, stressing that migration is one of these "immediate" benefits as the country now has "proper control of our borders."
Earlier, Sunak asserted that the UK will make sure to use "our Brexit freedoms to create the most pro-innovation regulatory environment in the world."
