Jeremy Hunt (pictured), who was defeated by Boris Johnson in the Tory leadership race yesterday, was fired by the new prime minister as the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary on Wednesday.
In a twitter post, Hunt wrote he would have been honored to carry on his work as the FCO but understood the need for the new prime minister to "choose his team." He said was offered another role, which he declined, as it was time to "return to backbenches" after nine years in the Cabinet. Hunt added Johnson will have his "full support."
Prior to his departure, Theresa May and many of her Cabinet members put in their resignations.
