US to declare monkeypox public health emergency - report

The United States government intends to declare a public health emergency concerning the monkeypox outbreak in the country, The Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing two anonymous officials from the Biden administration.

US Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra (pictured) could make the announcement today after an afternoon briefing, according to the report.

The move could reportedly provide the government with more ways in which it will be able to fight the disease, especially with treatments and vaccines.

Nintendo's profit sinks 55% as Switch sales decline
Entertainment company Nintendo announced on Friday that its profit for its fiscal first quarter of 2024 plunged 55% to 80.9 billion Japanese yen (around $543 million).The Japanese gaming giant sold 2.1 million Switch units in the quarter ending June 30, down 46% from last year.
