Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya warned on Friday about the dangers of an "uncontrolled spread of bioagents from Ukraine" to the rest of Europe.
"Dangerous pathogens" could escape the eastern European country "given interests of the radical nationalist groups in Ukraine" and thanks to their cooperation with the United States Department of Defense, the Russian official said at the emergency UN Security Council meeting on the topic of biological laboratories in Ukraine and the nature of cooperation between Kiev and the US on the matter.
"At least 30" biolabs in Ukraine conducted "extremely dangerous biological experiments... aimed at enhancing the pathogenic properties of plague, anthrax, tularemia, cholera and other deadly diseases," Nebenzya noted, warning about the risks of the materials falling into the hands of terrorists.
