South Korea's prosecutors arrested former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun early Sunday over his alleged role in President Yoon Suk-yeol's short-lived attempt to impose martial law, Yonhap reported.
The move came after Kim showed up for an overnight questioning by the special investigation headquarters at 1:30 am local time, according to the news agency. Kim, whose resignation Yoon accepted on Thursday, was said to have been a key figure in the president's martial law declaration on Tuesday and to have made the suggestion to Yoon.
As for Yoon, he survived an impeachment vote on Saturday, with South Korea's main opposition Democratic Party (DP) vowing to keep pushing for the motion to pass.
