Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged allies on Sunday to add "new pressure" on Russia and emphasized the importance of "more effective sanctions."
"This week alone, over 1,580 guided aerial bombs, nearly 1,100 strike drones, and 15 missiles of various types were used against our people. All of this weaponry contains at least 102,000 foreign components. That's why sanctions against Russian terrorists must be more effective. Every loophole that allows them to bypass the sanctions regime must be eliminated," Zelensky said in a post on X, reporting that Russia attacked Ukraine with nearly 150 strike drones during the previous night.
Zelensky's comments come one day before the United States and Russian delegations are set to meet in Riyadh to discuss the conflict in Ukraine after a previous meeting in Jeddah two weeks ago.
