Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took to Telegram on Tuesday to call the explosion of the Kakhovka dam an "ecological bomb of mass destruction," adding that the authorities are doing everything "to save people and provide drinking water to those who received it from the Kakhovka Reservoir."

He underlined that the world will know about Moscow's "ecocide." "For the sake of its own security, the world should show now that Russia cannot get away with such terror [acts]," the head of state said.

So far, both Kiev and Moscow have continued to blame each other for the disaster, while the United States shared that it is currently assessing the situation and cannot "conclusively" state who is to blame yet. Previous reports claimed that Washington's intelligence is pointing to the likelihood of Russia being responsible.
