British Prime Minister Boris Johnson apologized on Tuesday for breaking COVID-19 lockdown laws in 2020 and 2021, for which he was fined by the Metropolitan Police. "I have paid the fine and I once again offer a full apology," he said.
Johnson said that "at that time it did not occur" to him that the Downing Street gatherings were a breach of the rules. "I want to be able to get on with the mandate that I have and to tackle the problems in the country," he added, indicating he does not intend to resign over the matter.
