British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the government will meet on Monday and review the situation regarding international travel from and to the United Kingdom, his spokesperson announced on Sunday.
The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Austria, France, Germany, and Ireland all previously banned flights from Britain landing in their countries amid the emergence of the new variant of COVID-19 in the UK.
Johnson previously described the new strain of the virus as possibly "up to 70% more transmittable," while Chief Scientific Adviser to the British Government stated it could have originated in Britain.
